What were your biggest challenges before GameDevHQ?

I work at Rainbow Studios in Phoenix, Arizona. We primarily focus on off-road racing games. 

I did not know where I wanted to go with this career, and I was still looking for a job last year while I was working at my previous job. 

My schooling was great, but we did not do a lot of training for job placements, particularly for the field that we were in.

What results did you see after signing up with GameDevHQ?

There are also a lot of things in the GameDevHQ program that I did not learn in school, so it complements my formal qualification well.

Now I am able to go into a project confidently, and complete it from start to finish. There is knowledge in the program that I can apply to day-to-day projects outside of work. 

I think that going through the GameDevHQ courses has helped boost my confidence when I go into a new project.

What is unique about GameDevHQ’s support system?

I applied to the program in June of last year, and then I got into my job in August. The structure and support system of GameDevHQ is simple, and the courses are very structured. 

I like the ‘challenge problems’ that they provide, because they help the practitioner to solve them without being handheld. 

What makes GameDevHQ better than free resources?

GameDevHQ offers better practices at a lower cost than most online platforms, and you get a more in-depth knowledge base about what goes into the projects. 

They also have coaches and mentors, and other support staff to help the students put their portfolios together and create medium articles.

Was the Professional Unity Developer Program worth the investment?

I definitely think that GameDevHQ was worth the investment. I could apply the principles that I learned in their courses and my schooling, and build on top of them because I understood the core principles.

I would recommend GameDevHQ to students who are looking to get into the basic principles of how the game industry works. GameDevHQ will help you to find your passion and that is really important.
